Arrow Global Portugal strengthens leadership with Gonçalo Duarte Silva

The growing investment in the hotel sector in Portugal has led Arrow Global Portugal (AGPT), the European vertically integrated asset manager, to hire Gonçalo Duarte Silva, who has been the new COO of the Hospitality area in Portugal since the beginning of September. He will coordinate AGPT’s hotel operations, joining Francisco Moser, CEO of Hospitality, and Nuno Sepúlveda, CEO of Sports & Leisure.

With over 30 years’ experience in the hotel industry, Gonçalo Duarte Silva has extensive knowledge of managing and operating hotels all over the world. Since 2018, General Manager of the Shangri-la Kuala Lumpur Hotel (5*) in Malaysia, he previously held the position of Director of Special Projects at the Island Shangri-la in Hong Kong. He was Area Director for Starwood Hotels & Resort in Poland, with six hotels under the Sheraton, Westin & Luxury Collection brands. In Spain, he led the Le Meridien Barcelona, The Westin & Sheraton Real de Faula Golf Resort & Spa on the Costa Blanca and held the position of Hotel Director at the Westin Palace Madrid. He also worked as a Regional Director at Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Spain and Portugal in the Six Sigma area, among other important projects. He began his professional career in Portugal, at the Penina Golf & Resort Hotel (5*).

AGG, through the funds it manages, recently completed the acquisition of the Dom Pedro Group’s main assets, namely three hotels in Vilamoura – Dom Pedro Portobelo, Dom Pedro Marina and Dom Pedro Vilamoura, along with five emblematic Vilamoura golf courses – Old Course, Pinhal, Laguna, Millenium and Victoria. The deal also included Dom Pedro Lagos and two hotels in Madeira: Dom Pedro Machico and Dom Pedro Garajau.

AGG is also the majority shareholder in the Details Hotels & Resorts hotel group, with eight hotels under management in the Albufeira and Carvoeiro areas, and the funds managed by AGG control the Vilamoura World company, which includes Lusotur and Vilamoura Marina, and is responsible for the real estate development of a portfolio of land with a buildable area of more than 400,000 m².
